When it comes to movies in the parks and arenas, there’s one place to go and one place not to go, according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS).
The film festival has updated its schedule for the 2017-18 academic year with a new list of locations and dates for outdoor movie screenings in more than a dozen parks and the outdoor amphitheaters that house the Academy’s outdoor movies.
The locations and movies for the week of Aug. 15 through Sept. 7 include:The list also includes a couple of new locations in the amphitheater in front of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., as well as two new locations at the Walt Disney World Resort and one at the Disney Springs Resort in Florida.
The list is based on AMCAS’ research into the moviegoing habits of AMCAS members.
The group tracks attendance of its members and other visitors to the AMCAS campuses, theaters and outdoor movie theaters, and then calculates which moviegoers and others are most likely to stay after the movies.
It is not yet known how many AMCAS moviegoers actually visit the movie sites and what the audience levels are for each of those locations.
For example, a movie in one location could be viewed by only one or two people, and an AMCAS member in another location could easily see at least 10 people.
For now, AMCAS has added two new outdoor movie venues to the list, one in front the National Museum of American History in Washington D.F. and one in the park at the National Zoo and Aquarium in Washington.
The two new venues are in addition to AMCAS locations at both the D.A.T.E. Center in Orlando and the Hollywood Studios in Culver City.
There are also a few new outdoor venues at the AMCas campuses in Washington and San Francisco.
For the week ending Aug. 17, AMCas announced that it is adding a second outdoor theater in Los Angeles.
The first outdoor movie site in Los Vegas opened on April 12, and it is now home to the second movie site at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
AMCAS also announced a new movie theater in New York, but the details are still being worked out.
The AMCAS website for the weekend of Aug.”15-19, 2017, will now list the locations and movie locations that will be showing the upcoming summer blockbuster, “Captain America: Civil War.
“AMCAS says it will continue to update this list as more theaters and locations open up.
